River City Repertory Theatre and O. Delton Harrison, Jr. will host an evening welcoming Tony Award-winning actress Donna McKechnie to Shreveport on Sun, Ap 15, says Patric McWilliams.

McKechnie will appear as Amanda Wingfield in River City Rep’s
production of Tennessee Williams’ The Glass Menagerie. The show will open May 17 at the Scottish Rite Temple.

McKechnie plays a faded Southern Belle who strives to give direction to her son, Tom, and her daughter, Laura. However, her irritating ways cause Tom to seek escape in alcohol and Laura to retreat into the world of the glass figurines that she collects.

McKechnie won the 1976 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her performance in the original “A Chorus Line.” She has created
legendary roles in “Company,” “Promises, Promises,” “How To Succeed In Business” and “State Fair.” Her autobiography, Time Steps, has recently been released by Simon and Schuster.

Logan Sledge, Ellen Lindsay and Youree McBride will complete the
cast as Tom, Laura and a Gentleman Caller. Patric McWilliams, artistic director for RCRT, will direct.

Buffet with McKechnie & Harrison: 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Valet parking.
Tickets: $75.00 per person or $100.00 per couple.
Reservations: Jodie Glorioso at 318-219-2318 or a check to River City Repertory Theatre, 2829 Youree Drive Suite #4, Spt, 71104.

Isn't it great that this theatre company is attracting someone of this caliber? AND bringing back three Shreveporters who otherwise wouldn't ever work here! I'm thrilled about what's going on with this company.

Me too. I love what they are doing and have done already. It will be great to see really top notch professional actors tackle this Tennessee Williams classic. Bravo to River City Rep for bringing locally produced professional theatre to Shreveport for the first time.
