Getting last-minute tickets to Shreveport Opera productions is easy but patrons should be aware of a few limitations in the system.
First, Mary Mcleod and her box office helpers are at the Riverview Theater box office. They open at noon on show night and if you're downtown you can buy tickets in the Riverview Theater lobby. Otherwise, you'll be told by a recording at Shreveport Opera to call the box office at 318-673-5108.
The City of Shreveport, owner of the theater, provides one telephone line for this function. Don't be surprised if you get a busy signal. But patience is rewarded apace, I've found.
Next, be patient with the box office staff. Inasmuch as there is no internet access at the box office, the tickets are being sorted by hand, not laptop.
This modus operandi is the same whether you want tickets to the opera, the symphony or other presentations.
For the city to overlook the need for additional phone lines and internet access in this important box office is a nasty bit of illiteracy.
As far as I know the best way to get this changed is by complaining to your city council rep. Let us do that.
