Student films, filmmaker Tom Putnam at Centenary College for student division of Louisiana Film Festival Fri, Sat, Ap 4, 5

"Please join us for the fourth annual student division of the Louisiana Film Festival," says Michelle Glaros. "The festival will be held at Centenary College this weekend - in Kilpatrick Auditorium. We will screen 35 student films (elementary-high school) and host 37 young filmmakers at the event.

Tom Putnam is the guest filmmaker and speaker, he of the upcoming romantic comedy The Hottie and the Nottie.

Screenings begin at 3:30 pm on Fri, April 4, and conclude that evening at 6 pm with a formal screening, talk, and Q&A with guest Putnam.

Events begin Saturday at 10 am and conclude at 5 pm with the Awards Ceremony.

Above are Mackenzie Roberts and Eli Maclean, who made a documentary on the salvinia attacking Lake Bistineau. Their Attack of the Killer Weed will be screened Sat afternoon. They are students of Keith Thomas at Caddo Magnet HS.

May I ask teachers of media arts to grab a few students and try to attend some of the screenings? It will certainly give your program and your work an energy boost.
