Shreveport's Highland Jazz & Blues Fest on Sat, Nov 15, noon to 6 pm at Columbia Park

Columbia Park: the halcyon choristers sang in Columbia in days of yore.
And it continues as a center of mellow yellow during the annual blues fest.

I'd recommend a portable chair. And a few extra bucks for the vendors, who've got food and artisan work.

So far, this fest has not been mobbed. The vibe is that of a fest in the country.

Noon to 6 pm.
As residents of Highland like to say, Hare krishna: slow down and live.

Thanks to Kathryn Usher for the snap.

Information and Lineup
The Highland Area Partnership's Highland Jazz and Blues Festival welcomes Grammy-nominated Blues musician Henry Gray, the LAST of the great Chicago Bluesmen having played with not only Howlinʼ Wolf in his hayday in the late 50ʼs and 60ʼs but also, over his 60 year blues career, with Muddy Waters, Hubert Sumlin, "Little" Walter Jacobs, Sonny Boy Williamson, Jimmy Reed ( including a Carnegie Hall concert), Jimmy Rogers, Elmore James (with him the night he died), Koko Taylor, Otis Rush, "Little" Milton, Buddy Guy, and BB King just to name a few.

Grammy Nominee - 1998 "A Tribute to Howlin'Wolf', for whom he played piano from 1956-1968.

In 998 he was handpicked by Mick Jagger to play Jagger's 55th birthday soiree in Paris.

In fact, we have not 1 but 3 Grammy nominees in Gray, Buddy Flett and Jerry Beach all playing this year.
