Someone's in the Kitchen at Artspace has been a successful series produced by Bonne Summers and the Shreveport Regional Arts Council staff. We live in an era in which writers and bon vivants spend a lot of time waxing upon the art of cuisine. So it's good that an art house known for paintings and sculpture can break from its routine to salute chefs and artful themes in cooking.
Chef Justin McDonnell has been cooking with his dad since childhood, he says. He later studied under Elizabeth Dixon at Bossier Community College. "Food is the only way I can express my artistic abilities, says McDonnell. "Every day that I get to cook, I'm an artist."
"Charcuterie - with a twist" is the theme of the supper he'll present Tues at 710 Texas St.
On his agenda -
- Smoked artichoke & crimini "sausage" with fresh sourdough, peaches and chive butter
- Duck prosciutto on angel hair pasta with basil, fig and lemon vinaigrette
- Quenelles of hogshead cheese with spiced cherry compote and mint
- Desert du jour
- Wines selected by Matthew Linn
$75 per person. Only a few seats left, says Summers.
