Artist and arts educator Nancy Walkup, once a Shreveporter but a citizen of Denton, Tx, for years, is in Japan with a group of scholars by virtue of a Fulbright grant.
She's shooting photos, jumping on trains, grokking the signs and throwing herself into the waters of Nipponese culture.
Her visit to Japan may ultimately have a widespread impact on the US since she is editor of SchoolArts, a national magazine for arts teachers.
