I'm very happy to see another River City Rep show come up. Their first season was outstanding. This theatre season has been a particularly bad one. The shows have been poorly produced and amateurly (in its worse meaning of the word)performed. Our city needs a higher standard of theatre and that's certainly what this company gave us the first season.

Why is it that whenever "one" praises the River City Rep, they have to put down the other theaters in town? OK, so you do nice work. You are a "professional" theater. So what? It really is not becoming to be such a snob at the expense of others. Let it go for God's sake!

I don't think "theatresupporter" was putting anyone down. It's true, this has been a very disappointing season. I am not associated with any particular theatre and I attend shows at all theatres. Yes, River City is more skilled and has been presenting productions far better than the community theatres. They SHOULD, they're a professional company hiring seasoned actors and mix them in with the best local actors. Why should we be mad at them for that? I think we should be thrilled they're doing that. If a theatre or a local actor doesn't want to operate on that level then, fine. But don't get mad at someone who is pointing out the terrible season we theatergoers are suffering through. I'm looking forward to River City's show.

I agree that they do good work. But you are correct when you say they "SHOULD, they're a professional company hiring seasoned actors..." If that is true then we should stop comparing professional with non-professional theater. It's two different things. That's all I'm saying. When the above poster had to emphasize "(in its worse meaning of the word)", that is putting someone down. Look, I don't want to get into a big drawn out debate about this, I just think we can do without the snide remarks and put-downs.
