There will be lots of pop, fly and sparkle, says flymaster Eric Gipson, as Sci-Port: Louisiana's Science Center honors America's 233rd year of independence with a variety of hands-on activities and demonstrations this Saturday, July 4 and Sunday, July 5.
"Families claiming early spots for the Saturday fireworks show on the Shreveport Riverfront may find Sci-Port a welcome air conditioned place to escape for this dose of patriotic science," said Brian McWilliams, Sci-Port Public Programs Manager. "And as it's traditional to have a few unpopped things remaining the day after the Fourth, several activities will be repeated Sunday."
Activities, included with regular admission and free to Sci-Port members, include:
Sparklers

Observe fire under a controlled element, learn what it takes to produce fire, and how ordinary air can produce spectacular results.
Radical Reactions

Water Rockets
July 4 at 1 p.m., July 5 at 2 p.m.
Learn about propulsion and help countdown the launch of these water rockets capable of landing on Sci-Port's roof.
