Trompe-l'oeil in Doyline: Beau Cook finds that public art goes well with his small town

Writes artist Chris Broussard,
"A young man in Doyline took on a monumental project to give his little town a face lift. What he has done has been an inspiration to many.

Beau Cook, a junior at Doyline High School, took on a summer project that brought more than creative challenges. This young man almost single handedly sought private dollars for a public art venture that has the town buzzing.

Having never painted a mural before, Beau sought the assistance of local artists. Minden artists Chris Broussard and Jennifer Purdy brought their artistic backgrounds to help Beau complete his public art project. Cultural Crossroads, a Webster Parish based arts agency, agreed to fund the remainder of the project and sponsor a special reception for the unveiling of what Beau refers to as “The Wall.”

The unveiling ceremony will be held at 2pm on Sunday, August 19th in front of the old Causey Grocery store in downtown Doyline. The public is invited.
