New music: KSCL's Jon Schleuss tells a story of Montreal, though they are based in Athens

"of Montreal and Kevin Barnes have been around for ten years," says KSCL station manager and dj Jon Schleuss, "and looking back to the beginning, all I hear is 'Tim, wish you were born a girl, wish you were born a girl, so I coulda been your boy-friend.' That was one of their hits off the album "Cherry Peel," released in 1997.

Ten years later, of Montreal has changed. They started as this weird jingle-jangle group that sung about "old people in the cemetery" and Sears dryers. I kid you not! Now with "Hissing Fauna, Are you the Destroyer?" Kevin & Co. have grown into a powerpop dance monster. Hissing Fauna is inspired by the depression Barnes experienced while in Norway. So, you might notice that Heimdalsgate (a town in Southern Norway) and Gronlandic (Danish for Greenland) don't sound all that familiar. For lyrics that are borderline emo, the songs will drive energy into anyone's legs. So turn it on and dance!" -

You may fly to Montreal (the group has long been based in Athens, Ga) on rhinestone-accented wings on Tuesdays, 6 to 8 pm; the KSCL program's called The Voice of Schleuss.
