To honor artist Marlene Yu's life, work, and 70th solo exhibition, I am seeking funds via Kickstarter for 7 exhibitions in her 77th year, says Shreveporter Stephanie Yu Lusk.
"Marlene, my mom, usually manages one major solo show per year. Framing, crating, shipping, installing, de-installing large-scale works and publication costs that are not covered by the individual institutions add up quickly. I am asking for your help to have this upcoming year be her most stellar yet. I think that not only will we be able to accomplish our goal, but Marlene will also be incredibly moved by our collective online response and it will be a huge encouragement for her to keep producing amazing art at her active 77 years of age."
"In a period of 14 days, I was able to sign up 7 institutions in the same city where the Marlene Yu Museum - in the former Travis St YWCA building - will be built. Selections will be made from her 4000+, more than 35 series of works; the art ranges from 16 inches to 37 feet long."
