Louisiana Division of the Arts will present a Professional Development Weekend Retreat at the Shaw Center for the Arts in Baton Rouge Fri, Sept 24 – Sun, Sept 26, 2010.
It is an Internet for Artists Workshop: Using the internet to build community, promote your work and increase administrative effectiveness, says Vickie Marshall.
Established and emerging artists in all disciplines are eligible to submit an application. Twenty-four artists will be selected.
Artists who live outside of Baton Rouge that are selected to participate will be given a $100 stipend to help with costs of travel and lodging. Your participation fees for the workshop will be covered. Meals for all participating artists will be provided.
Submission requirements include an artist statement (that discusses your primary motivation for creating your work and your passion for your artistic discipline), a career impact statement (what do you see as the central challenges to your career now and how do you think this program will advance your work?), a resume, and a sample of work.
See http://www.crt.state.la.us/arts/ccinternet.aspx for the application form and instructions.

So if it's an Internet workshop and only 24 artists can attend doesn't that defeat the purpose of the Internet? I say figure out how to include every artist who wants to attend. Put it on the Internet while it's happening. How hard can that be?
