"Our latest one-night-only installment of the Robinson Film Center Presents series is Adrienne Shelly’s movie, Waitress, a romantic comedy set in the deep south that I thought would provide a nice counterbalance to our last RFC Presents screening - The Lives of Others," says Chris Jay.
The film will play Thursday, July 12th, 7:00 pm, at the Louisiana Boardwalk Regal Cinemas.
Waitress premiered at Sundance ’07 and has been one of the biggest break-out indie hits of the year, says the RFC's market analyst. The film stars Keri Russell (Felicity), Andy Griffith, and Jeremy Sisto (Six Feet Under) in the tale of a southern waitress who leaves her deadbeat husband and discovers a new romance.
This screening of Waitress will be the film’s only Shreveport-Bossier City area theatrical exhibition. The film has claimed Audience Awards at the Sarasota and Newport Beach film festivals. It is Rated PG-13 for language.
Tickets are $7.50, and may be purchased in advance by phone or at a ticket table outside of the theater immediately before the film. All who purchase in advance by phone will be entered in a drawing to win $50 worth of free rentals from Hollywood Video. I’m taking ticket orders now at (318) 424-9090, says the tireless Jay.
He adds, "The film has been called The perfect Girl’s Night Out movie because it deals with a strong female lead character standing up for herself in a very traditional community. But it will entertain anyone who enjoys romance and laughs delivered with a smart, indie sensibility that you won’t find in the average Hugh Grant romantic comedies being cranked out by Hollywood."
