The Port Belly Project will sponsor a hand drum workshop given by the members of Yulsuvvy of Tyler, TX, says Kathy Fontaine. Port Belly Project is an organization teaching and promoting the art of belly dance in Shreveport.

Yulsuvvy, a semi-professional group of percussionists, will share the joy of hand percussion at Lotus Center, 444 Olive St. Appropriate for adults and kids alike, this workshop will explore the basics as well as tips and tricks to use when performing live music for dancers or participating in community drum circles.

Hand drumming is a great way to relieve stress, increase hand-eye coordination, cultivate bridges across cultural, age and spiritual gaps, and to just have fun, says Fontaine.

Yulsuvvy has performed at many venues including Four Winds Renaissance Faire, Sidewalk Café, Starbucks Coffee, The Red River Revel, Taste of Addison, Party Fest and theme parties.

Lotus Studio parking is available in the Highland Center parking lot on the corner of Highland and Olive Streets.

The cost of the workshop is $20 per person, payable at the door.
