Shreveport-based independent filmmaker Evan Falbaum will present his first dramatic/comedic feature, "Getting Outer Space," at Robinson Film Center in downtown Shreveport, March 27 and 28 at 7:30 p.m. The film deals with "family, grief, space aspirations, and coming home," according to the RFC website. Tickets are $5 each and the Sunday night premiere is nearly sold-out (less than 20 tickets remain as of Friday afternoon). We're told that lots of tickets are still available for the Monday night encore presentation. Both screenings will be preceded by a three-minute short entitled "Out with a Bang" and followed by a Q&A with the cast and crew. Advance tickets may be purchased here. Dozens of local actors make up the cast of the film, including Kemerton Hargrove Jr., Steven Bailey, Jamie Norwood, John F. Daniel, Chris Degueurce and many more.
"It's equal parts drama and comedy," Falbaum said. "The idea was to insert moments of comedy into dramatic situations. I love awkwardness."
"Getting Outer Space" is being presented as part of the center's Regional Filmmakers Spotlight program, which makes screening space available for local and regional filmmakers to exhibit their original works at no charge to the filmmaker.
