On Saturday, October 9, NPR’s From the Top (11 am) broadcasts from the Young Artist World Piano Festival and features cellist John-Henry Crawford, age 17, says Red River Radio manager Kermit Poling. Crawford was raised in Shreveport.

John-Henry comes from a musical family, performing on the 1821 cello passed down to him from his Austrian grandfather and cellist, Dr. Robert Popper. He has won numerous competitions, including a bronze medal in the Dallas Symphony’s Lynn Harrell Competition.

Last fall, John-Henry was accepted into the prestigious Curtis Institute in Philadelphia.
