Can you think of any reason not to?

Who will pay for it and who chooses the art?

I can't think of a better way to spend any kind of dollars, public or private, than to place a piece of beauty into our environment. Be not afraid of art and culture! And better yet, be not afraid to make money from art and culture!

Will it cause a furor? Will there be wailing and gnashing of teeth? Will many resist it and call it a disgrace, a waste or even, "if that is art then..."

Sounds like as solid proposal for public art to me.

If music was trash, could you put it in a garbage can with a lid on it? Then, it must not be trash.
