Little Shanty Folk Art Gallery, Shreveport, has artist Julie Glass opening on Sat, Sept 11 and a Gumbo Gala art market on Sat, Sept 24, 10 am to 8 pm

Sculpture by Shreveport artist Julie Glass and an art market called the Gumbo Gala are the upcoming events at Little Shanty Art Gallery, say proprietors Robert and Alaina Currie.

Glass, who works charmingly with all manner of refuse, including “Tire Tread + Screws + Bolts & Wire," will have a reception for her new exhibit on Sat, Sept 11, 3 to 5 pm.

Of the Gumbo Gala, on Sat, Sept 24, 10 am to 8 pm, the Curries say, "The entire city is invited to enjoy a day of Creole Food, Art & Music. Taste southern gumbo and more lip-slapping southern entrees of Chef Albert Moore of New Iberia, Louisiana, while enjoying live music, hundreds of original folk art and other items, i.e., jewelry, candles, massage and aromatherapy, handmade dolls and lots of wonderful things to see. The Petting zoo will offer the kids a bonding experience with ponies and farm animals."

Parking abundant, admission free.
