Building the Business of Art: May 6 - 8, Lafayette

Artists who are unaware of the Louisiana Crafts Guild may have a pleasant surprise when they witness the strength of the organization via the web site or workshops.

Susan Breeland, active member of the LCG, recommends this opportunity: the Louisiana Crafts Guild will present one of CAA’s National Professional Development Workshops in Lafayette on May 6 - 8. .

The workshops focus on supporting visual artists in underserved areas.

The three-day event, scheduled for May 6 (12:00 noon–5:00 pm), May 7 (8:00 am–5:00 pm) and May 8 (10:00 am–6:00 pm), will be held at the Science Museum (formerly Natural History Museum) in Lafayette.
May 6, billed as a “maintenance day” provides the opportunity for artists to receive professional photographs of their artwork as part of the workshop. Guild members have the opportunity to work with a website professional to assist in updating individual artist member pages.

To schedule an appointment for photography or website updates (only 50 are available), please contact Kimberly Jones at San Souci Gallery, 337-266-7999.

On May 7 and 8, the workshop will provide professional-development seminars filled with career-building skills for visual artists, including valuable information, tools, tips, resources, best practices, and networking. Featured presenters and topics include:

entrepreneurial thinking and tactics for artists, small-business management, and demystifying public relations
