Southern University Museum of Art Shreveport, 610 Texas St.

Painter Larry D. Holston's work was recently featured at the Southern University Museum of Art Shreveport (SUMAS) gallery, 610 Texas St. Holston is an assistant professor of art at Grambling University as well as a graduate of Grambling, Chapman University (MA) and Northwestern of Louisiana (MA).

Holston's work depicts a wide range of African-American experiences in America. From scenes of slavery and oppression to those of jazz musicians, he paints images that he wants no one to forget, said Carolyn Coatney, SUMAS coordinator.

Ms. Coatney invites art lovers to see work by master photographer Chris McNair, the next artist to be featured at SUMAS. McNair won acclaim by his Civil Rights Movement photography. More info: 676-5520.
