Northwest Louisiana Art Gallery and Prima Tazza are proud to present "Vieux Carre' Carousel," the visual art of Ray Holt, says Michael G Moore.
Holt might be described as a funky southern surrealist. He paints with oil on canvas to express his oily deep south experiences. Ray says of his work, "I live in Shreveport, but I've always been fascinated with New Orleans, as most of my work reflects this theme. The city has a unique culture and lends itself to a variety of visual designs such as the Spanish/French architecture to Mardi Gras & Jazz. I strive to capture the colorful mood of New Orleans with each brush stroke." He continues, "My favorite artist is Pino. His loose style, perfect lighting, & skills at painting the female figure in vintage clothes is something I find beautiful."
The show will run from May 3 through June 11. A reception for the artist will take place Friday, May 20 from 6-8 PM at Prima Tazza, 8835 Line Avenue at 3132, and is open to the public. Call Carey Johnston at 550-0174 for more details.

Ray Holt's wife is Chris Holt. I'll find out whether she taches art.
